VINTAGE INSPIRED

A love for mid century design and vintage textiles has influenced my craft. My work is unfussy in form but can be bold in colour and surface pattern, aiming to create contemporary ceramics that lift the spirits. I love the natural qualities of the stoneware clay and often include this in my work by using transparent glazes or partially omitting a glaze to reveal the toasty biscuit texture. I try to embrace imperfections and apply surface pattern in an instinctual and spontaneous way rather than one that is overly controlled.  This results in each piece having a truly unique character.
